Dr. Claire Worthy Thornton graduated with a B.S. in Bible and Psychology from Columbia International University in 2004. After graduation, Dr. Claire was drawn towards the dental profession because her father is a dentist and her mother was a dental assistant. She saw firsthand how her parents utilized dentistry as a means to serve others in private practice, public health and mission work. Dr. Claire then attended the University of Georgia for post-baccalaureate studies and received her doctorate of dental medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 2012. She completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center from 2012-2013. In her residency training, Dr. Claire received advanced education in general dentistry, including treatment of special needs patients, treatment of emergencies in a dental setting, anesthesia, and forensic dentistry.
Dr. Claire returned to her hometown of Hiawassee, GA in 2013 and started her own general dental practice where she treated patients of all ages. Dr. Claire sold her practice in 2018 to move to Wake Forest, North Carolina where her husband, Dr. Andrew Thornton, was practicing family medicine. The Thornton's have two children, Sterling and Eleni. In October of 2021, they moved to Cobb County to be closer to their families who live in North Georgia, Atlanta and Augusta.
Growing up with great experiences in the dentistry herself, Dr. Claire is very committed to creating positive experiences for her patients. She is a lifelong learner and strives to deliver the highest quality of care with compassion and gentleness.
